What is a Marketing Personality Type™?
The Marketing Personality Type™ framework was created by Brit Kolo, an amazing woman from Pennsylvania, USA who cleverly combined Meyer-Briggs Type Indicators with marketing strategies (genius!). The framework identifies what marketing best matches each of the 16 different personalities types. And by 'best', I mean what feels good and more natural to that person based on how they prefer to do things. Brit's key message that you will hear her always refer back to is "When you feel good, your audience feels good".
How did I come across Marketing Personalities?
I seem to have a habit of starting out reading an article or listening to a podcast, and an hour or so later I find myself on a completely different site, learning about something or someone new. This can be a problem when I'm trying to stay on track with work I need to do, but by going down the internet rabbit hole, I've found some of the most fascinating content that has helped both me and my clients.
I can't remember exactly where I was online when I came across Marketing Personalities but I do remember being extremely curious to know more. Halfway through the 'About' page I felt SO EXCITED to have stumbled across this site and everything I was learning. I jumped over to www.16personalities.com to do the free online Personality Test and found out I was the rare INFP type (around 4% of the population). I read the free report that 16 Personalities provides and was genuinely shocked at how accurate it was. I then jumped back over to the Marketing Personalities site, signed up for my free mini-report and didn't hesitate to invest in the full report. I had to know more about what my best marketing strategy was and that was the start of my journey with Marketing Personalities.
Why have I incorporated the Marketing Personality Type™ framework into JOURNI Marketing?
There are a few reasons: 1- I LOVE IT! It was so accurate for myself and has helped me take a new approach with my own marketing, which feels better and has made everything so much more simple. 2- It aligns with everything I believe to be true about marketing. Marketing should feel good and it should be personalised to who you are. It has never sat well with me to recommend to business owners to do marketing that they don't want to do. Believe me, I have seen A LOT of business owners trying to do marketing that they think they 'should' be doing, only for them to stop not long after starting or they give up doing because it isn't working.
3 - I was fortunate enough to be one of the first people to do Brit's 'Marketing Personalities Mentorship Program' which gave me the knowledge and support to combine the framework into my services.
